How Transformers Works

The Transformer works under the principle of mutual inductance. When a primary winding of the transformer is connected to the alternating voltage source. An alternating flux is produced in the core with an amplitude depending on the primary winding voltage (or) supply voltage. An alternating flux is nothing but a rate of change of flux with respect to time. This alternating flux induces an voltage in the secondary winding of the transformer. Thus energy is transformed from primary winding to secondary winding with electrical isolation.
